GQ Declares Austin One of Worst Dressed Cities in USA, Thanks Hipsters
Men’s lifestyle magazine GQ has declared Austin of the the worst dressed cities in the union, 18th worst to be exact, thanks to the over abundance of hipsters in Austin. Why because people dress like this:
The subject became to me that I must reach out on this mission during a meeting yesterday with some friends. So I was at Opa's off South Lamar and I was having a great meeting with friends, drinking micro brewed beers while she drank wine. Another friend had joined us, when I look up and see a guy probably about 6 feet or so walk in with his girlfriend or date. He was carrying a Yahtzee board game and scoping for a place to sit. I love to observe people, I've done it all of my life, but this one, was just a sad train wreck. It's like I don't 50 degrees outside. People are dressed up in blazers and cute little jackets or sweaters, boots and cute leggings, even the guys were were long sleeves and look quite posh. So then this guy, who I will now refer to is Mr. Cut-Off Shorts guy, walks in wearing cut off shorts skin tight and folded at the knee and a brown leather bomber jacket, with get this, loafers and no socks. It was like watching Big, when the little boy wakes up and he's a full grown man. I looked over at the girl and she was dressed cute with her black sweater and jeans, brown boots over the pant and beautiful purple scarf. I thought, this girl is on a date, unfortunately, it's a date with Mr. Cut Off Shorts guy. I wish I could post a picture and I guess from now on, I will have to think of cleaver ways to take pictures of this atrocity.
What happened to getting dressed up for a date? This poor girl has to make due with Mr. Cut Off Shorts guy and probably because she's already in a relationship with this guy and the wooing phase is over. It took me back to dates with my husband and how he always (AND STILL DOES!) got dressed up and smelling nice. There's something about a guy who knows how to coordinate his clothing in that subtle manly way, smelling like some nice cologne to make a girl swoon. It says I'm making the effort for you. Evidently Mr. Cut Off Jeans guy didn't get the moment because his looks says, I'm not even trying. I've seen many looks on a guy to know the different styles and even thought the "hipster" movement is a part of my generation, it doesn't mean that I have to stand for it? NO THIS SHALL NOT STAND!
So I'm going to conduct a series of investigations, surveys and hypotheses to see what I can do about the situation. I don't know that I can single handedly change everything thing, But hey whatever.
Mr. Cut Off Shorts Guy and his Loafers.... NOOOOOOO!!!!!
This is what guys should dress in a date situation like that:
Much Better!
